Hopjacks Filling Station Event FlyerHopjacks self described "Beer Nerd" Tim Dohms continues to educate the masses about the intriguing world of beer with a series of beer classes at Hopjacks Filling Station. The first class, In the Beginning: The Origins of Beer, will cover

"beer's earliest ancestors as interpreted through today's brewing technology"

and will take place this Wednesday, May 1st starting at 7 pm. The class costs $10 per person which includes the beer served during the class. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (850) 466-2327, Tim stated on Facebook that only a few of the 30 seats available remain, so call ASAP.

We have no information on how often these beer classes will be held or future planned topics but we will include each class on our events page when the information is made available.

Pensacola Bay Brewery Beer Dinner on Pensacola Beach

The Pensacola Bay Hilton will be hosting a Beer Paring Dinner featuring Pensacola Bay Brewery on Friday April 19th at 6:30 pm. The event will take place at the Pergola on Hilton's beachfront pool deck and tickets are $35 per person.

Chef Dan Dunn, along with the crew from H2O Restaurant will be preparing the 5-course dinner and pairing it with brews from Pensacola Bay Brewery, recent winners of six medals at the 2013 Best Florida Beer Championships (BFBC).

Hopjacks' Dogfish Head Beer dinner last month was a very enjoyable event. A beer dinner with our own local brewery is a don't miss event, so lets show local venues that Pensacola is ready and able to support these type events.

2013 Best Florida Beer Championships

The 2013 Best Florida Beer Championships (BFBC) were held this February and our local breweries made an impressive showing. Pensacola Bay Brewery, Props Brewery, and McGuires (Destin) all participated in the competition and each brewery brought home multiple medals:

The BFBC also held a Homebrew competition and our local homebrew club, Escambia Bay Homebrewers, showed that homebrewing is alive and well in the Pensacola area winning three 1st, one 2nd, and two 3rd place awards. Overall Escambia Bay Homebrewers finished an impressive 6th among the 18 Florida homebrew clubs that competed. The detailed results for the homebrew competition can be found here.
