Pensacola Bay Brewery's 1st Annual Pre-St. Patrick's Day Celebration

The Pensacola Bay Brewery held their 1st Annual Pre-St. Patrick's Day celebration last Saturday night and Pensacola Beer was there. Festivites were scheduled from 7:00 pm until 11:00 pm. We arrived at 7:00 on the nose and quickly found a table to have a few award winning beers while listening to A Drunker Shade of Green.

I started with a Banyan Brown while my girlfriend chose the Pensacola Bay Porter (her favorite). After admitting 'the more you drink, the better we sound', the band opened at 7:20 with I'm Shipping Up To Boston by the Dropkick Murphys. They continued with traditional Irish tunes mixed with a few mainstream rock songs, including I Would Walk 500 Miles, which it turns out is sadly just as irritating with a fiddle as without. Ignoring that unfortunate song choice, the band did a great job of turning the brewery into an Irish pub for the night.

I eventually moved on to the Deluna Extra Pale Ale while my girlfriend went with the Blackbeard Oatmeal Stout. For those keeping score, that's three gold medal winners and one silver at the 2012 Best Florida Beer Championships.

The crowd was steady and enthusiastic without being overwhelming, and the bartenders entertained themselves with hula hoops and the occasional quarters game. We look forward to the 2nd Annual Pensacola Bay Brewery Pre-St. Patricks day celebration next year.

Pensacola Bay Brewery Starts St. Patrick's Day Celebration Early

Pensacola Bay Brewery is holding a pre-St. Patrick's Day celebration next Thursday, March 15th beginning at 7:00 p.m. Not only will there be great local craft beer (what would you expect, it's being held in PBBrew's taproom) but A Drunker Shade of Green will be providing the mandatory Irish music. What more could you ask for?

ADSOG promises to play all the traditional Celtic favorites plus contemporary Irish rock such as The Pogues and Dropkick Murphy's. For a musical preview, here is ADSOG playing the appropriately beer related song "Craic and the Porter Black".

So get over to Pensacola Bay Brewery Thursday night and celebrate both local craft beer and St. Patrick's Day!
